Porto Fado: The Legends of Nuum

Type:

Land Concept Development, Show Writing, and Facility Design

"Nestled on the rugged western coast of Portugal, near the border with Spain, the seaside city of Porto Fado’s picturesque setting offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. In the city center lies a populated shopping and dining district filled with shops and cafes, each with charming quirks. A bustling and colorful marketplace bazaar populated with local artisans, chefs, and storytellers overlooks the waterfront district’s restaurant and river, infamous for its unique boat tours. Looming over the city center is a towering citadel, an imposing structure of dark stone and metal with an eerie, fortress-like appearance with massive, menacing sculptures and symbols etched into its façade."

As a member of the Fall 2023 Entertainment Design III Class at Ringling College of Art and Design, I was able to participate in a semester long project where we developed an inherited story from the grade above us into a full-fleshed theme park land called Porto Fado. During this project, I was able to work in various roles, including area developer, show writer, creative director and facility designer/modeler, for Live Entertainment, Guest Interactions, and an E-ticket attraction. I wanted to demonstrate my work on this site, but in order to share the full story of my contributions, I also had to include the work of my incredible classmates, such as:

  • Alex Endicott: Land Map, Radio Device Concept, and Radio Missions Map

  • Brian Gweon: Land Concept Art

  • Everett Vorderstrasse and Robbi Butchko: Poster Designs

  • Tyler Palermo: E-Ticket Concept Treatment and Pre-show Script

  • Capri Easterday: E-Ticket Facade Concept Drawing

  • Olivia Dumas: E-Ticket Animatic

All other presented work and presentation formatting was done by me, including the scripts linked in the writing section of my site, the floor plans, and various concept treatments.
